This weekend Kobe Bryant will be inducted to the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame.
Vanessa’s love for Kobe still remains the same still after Kobe’s tragic accident which also took the lives of his daughter Gianna Bryant and 6 others in January 2020.
The 2020 Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame ceremony is coming ahead. Prior to the ceremony’s date Vanessa, 39 recently shared a picture of herself leaning on an oversized photo of the legendary basketball player.
Beside the image, she wrote, “Love you always,” tagging her late other half.
Kobe will be honored by Michael Jordan this Saturday as a member of the 2020 class being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Due to COVID-19 the ceremony had to be postponed.
In addition, Kobe’s standalone exhibit at the Hall of Fame in Massachusetts, which Vanessa helped design, will be unveiled, according to the Los Angeles Times. The name of the exhibit is “Kobe, A Basketball Life,” which is a special addition to the induction ceremony.
Parts of Kobe’s high school court in Pennsylvania will be displayed. Not to mention the replicas of the five championship rings he helped the Los Angeles Lakers win which will also be displayed. Other items that will be displayed include his sneakers he wore while scoring a career-high 81 points during a game in 2006. The short animation film Dear Basketball which won an Oscar will also be played.
“Vanessa really wanted the space partly to be reflective, and so Dear Basketball brings that part in,” as per what hall’s historian and curator Matt Zeysing said to the Los Angeles Times. “… She wanted a space for if someone wanted to just reflect for longer than even 30 minutes that they would have the opportunity to do that.”
Vanessa also disclosed earlier this year about trying to focus on “finding the light in darkness” after her husband and daughter left her permanently. She revealed that she gleans inspiration from Kobe and Gigi.
“I guess the best way to describe it is that Kobe and Gigi motivate me to keep going,” said Vanessa. “They inspire me to try harder and be better every day. Their love is unconditional and they motivate me in so many different ways.”
